My passion for midwifery stems from a love for babies, which goes back as far into my childhood as I can remember! I went to college at UC Davis knowing I wanted to work with babies in some capacity. However, I didn't decide to become a midwife until three years after I graduated. It was a couple more years before I started midwifery school, during which I attended births as a doula and worked as a preschool teacher for infants and toddlers in San Francisco.
In 2009, I moved to Portland, OR to attend Birthingway College of Midwifery. While attending school, I began a busy apprenticeship at Alma Midwifery in Portland, OR. I was an apprentice there for a little over two years, and then moved into the role of assistant midwife from May 2012- November 2013. I attended over 100 births with Alma and had so many wonderful experiences. But after four and half years in Portland, I was ready to be back in the sun and closer to my family.

Witness Birth stems from my desire to support and empower women and families during the childbearing year. I am passionate about midwifery care, out of hospital birth, and natural birth. Women and babies deserve a care provider who respects and values the birth process, provides evidence based care, and minimizes interventions in pregnancy and birth.
I am equally passionate about postpartum care and breastfeeding support. There are many births after a baby is born- such as the birth of a mother, the birth of a family, and the birth of siblings. I aim to support all of these big transitions with love, communication, and honor of the experience. The postpartum period is a sacred time for mother-baby to bond, for women to heal, and to begin to define your parenting style. The more support you have, the better!
I am joining a group practice this year & hope to be taking clients by Summer 2015. In the meantime, I am happy to answer any questions about midwifery care, birth center births, or homebirths
